Fatty Liver Disease

Alcoholic fatty liver disease is caused by drinking alcohol. To reverse this, you must stop drinking alcohol.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is a bit more complex. In both diseases, there is too much fat being stored in the liver cells. This can lead to liver failure, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. In non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, changing your diet is the number one, most important action you can take.

While it may seem that fat is the problem, it is actually sugar. When foods high in carbohydrates are eaten, the insulin tells the liver to convert the excess sugar into fatty acids. These fatty acids are then stored in the liver. The more sugar is converted and stored, the more congested the liver becomes from fat.

Symptoms may include fatigue, weakness, loss of appetite, mental confusion, jaundice, fluid build-up in the legs and belly, spider-like blood vessels, and itching.

Your overall health can drastically improve, if you stop eating processed foods, high fructose corn syrup, seed oils (vegetable, canola, sunflower, etc.), and sugar. Choose an animal-based diet instead. For detailed information about the animal based diet, check out the link on the left.

Green tea helps decrease body fat
Eat vegetables like mustard greens, artichokes, chicory, and dandelion greens, which help support the liver
Apple cider vinegar helps regulate blood sugar
Choline helps regulate fat metabolism in the liver
Eat foods high in monounsaturated fats like olive, avocado, and nuts
Eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids like wild-caught salmon, sardines, and chia seeds
Eat foods high in antioxidants, which heal damaged cells
Eat foods rich in vitamin E, like sunflower seeds and almonds
