Scriptures to Help on Your Weight Loss Journey

Hopefully, you've come to the same conclusion I have. I cannot do ANYTHING successfully without Jesus. I CAN mess up my life without Jesus. I can get into wrong relationships, spend money haphazardly, alienate good people in my life, and gain weight like nobody's business when I try to do it without the help of the Holy Spirit.

Here are some Scriptures that I am confessing over my life. I hope they will help you, too. I found compilations of scriptures on weight loss, contentment, and several other things at BibleReasons.com. I am using the Amplified translation from BibleGateway.com.

So then, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of [our great] God.

1 Corinthians 10:31

Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship.

Romans 12:1

Do you not know and understand that you [the church] are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells [permanently] in you [collectively and individually]?

1 Corinthians 3:16

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have [received as a gift] from God and that you are not your own [property]?

You were bought with a price [you were actually purchased with the precious blood of Jesus and made His own]. So then, honor and glorify God with your body.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

The Lord God is my strength [my source of courage, my invincible army];

He has made my feet [steady and sure] like hinds’ feet

And makes me walk [forward with spiritual confidence] on my high places [of challenge and responsibility].

Habakkuk 3:19

In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [draw your strength from Him and be empowered through your union with Him] and in the power of His [boundless] might.

Ephesians 6:10

The Lord is my strength and my [impenetrable] shield;

My heart trusts [with unwavering confidence] in Him, and I am helped;

Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,

And with my song, I shall thank Him and praise Him.

Psalm 28:7

When the righteous cry [for help], the Lord hears

And rescues them from all their distress and troubles.

Psalm 34:17

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;

I will counsel you [who are willing to learn] with My eye upon you.

Psalm 32:8

No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance]; but God is faithful [to His word—He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy].

1 Corinthians 10:13

For those who are living according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh [which gratify the body], but those who are living according to the Spirit, [set their minds on] the things of the Spirit [His will and purpose].

Romans 8:5

But [like a boxer] I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached [the gospel] to others, I myself will not somehow be disqualified [as unfit for service].

1 Corinthians 9:27

But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts].

Galatians 5:16

You can enjoy the journey with Jesus!
